WASHINGTON DC (Diya TV) — Vice President Kamala Harris invited the diaspora to celebrate Diwali at her Washington DC residence, Number One Observatory Circle. The gathering comes at a time the Biden administration is facing challenges on a number of fronts. Polling data indicates the Biden-Harris ticket will face a strong challenge from former President Donald Trump. The Ukraine–Russia conflict is ongoing and the Israel-Hamas War is now underway. In light of these events, it does not appear President Biden will hold a Diwali event at the White House as he did last year. And the State Department will not host the community either, though Assistant Secretary of State, Richard Verma will hold a private Diwali affair.
