WASHINGTON (Diya TV) — US Ambassador Eric Garcetti hailed the ongoing joint exercise between India and America, emphasizing their efforts towards a free, open, and prosperous Indo-Pacific. The bilateral tri-service Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) exercise, named ‘Tiger Triumph-24’, began on Monday and will run along India’s Eastern Seaboard until March 31.

“Congratulations to @USNavy and @IndianNavy for a stellar kick-off to #TIGERTRIUMPH 2024! Joint exercises like this underscore the vital #USIndiaDefense partnership, strengthening our bonds and securing our shared interests,” Ambassador Garcetti tweeted.

In a telephone call on Monday, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin commended the Indian Navy’s crucial role in anti-piracy operations in the Indian Ocean region. He discussed with India’s Defense Minister, Rajnath Singh, strategies to implement the India-US Defense Cooperation Roadmap finalized last year.

Tiger Triumph-24 aims to enhance interoperability for conducting HADR operations and refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for swift coordination between the forces of both countries, as stated by the Indian Navy.

“The Harbor Phase, scheduled from 18 to 25 March, includes Training Visits, Subject Matter Expert Exchanges, Sports Events, and Social interactions involving personnel from both navies,” the navy explained. Following this phase, ships with embarked troops will proceed to the Sea Phase, engaging in Maritime, Amphibious, and HADR operations.
