LONDON (Diya TV) — Channel 4 has hired Sky Group executive Priya Dogra as its next chief executive, marking a major leadership change for the British public service broadcaster. The company announced the appointment this week, describing Dogra as a proven commercial leader with deep experience in digital transformation and global media strategy.

Dogra currently serves as Chief Advertising Officer and Group Data & New Revenue Officer at Sky. She oversees Sky Media, the company’s advertising sales operation, along with its data, analytics, and non-subscription revenue units. She also played a key role in launching Universal Ads. The platform helps small businesses access TV advertising across Sky, ITV, Channel 4, and FreeWheel. It offers a unified way to buy ads on linear and streaming platforms, and it supports the shift toward digital advertising in the UK.

Before joining Sky, Dogra spent more than a decade at Warner Bros Discovery and its earlier companies. She worked in senior roles across the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and the UK. Her most recent position at the company was President and Managing Director for Warner Bros Discovery EMEA. In that role, she managed programming, production, marketing, advertising, streaming, and content licensing. She also supported local original series for HBO and HBO Max.

Earlier in her career, Dogra led mergers and acquisitions and corporate strategy at Time Warner and WarnerMedia. She advised three different chief executives and guided major investment deals. She began her career in investment banking at Citi, where she worked with media and telecom clients.

Dogra left Warner Bros Discovery for Sky Group last year. Her move to Channel 4 now follows the resignation of former CEO Alex Mahon, who stepped down several months ago. Channel 4 Chair Geoff Cooper welcomed Dogra to the role and praised her record. He said her commercial background and digital experience make her the right leader for the broadcaster’s shift toward streaming and multi-platform distribution.

Cooper called Dogra “an outstanding executive” and “a visionary leader.” He said her experience building partnerships and developing original programming fits Channel 4’s public service mission and long-term strategy. He also thanked interim leader Ian Katz for overseeing operations during what he called challenging market conditions.

Dogra will become the eighth chief executive of Channel 4 since its launch 43 years ago. The network’s previous leaders include Alex Mahon, David Abraham, Andy Duncan, Mark Thompson, Michael Jackson, Michael Grade, and founding CEO Jeremy Isaacs.

Dogra said joining Channel 4 “is a genuine privilege.” She highlighted the broadcaster’s mandate to reflect the UK and support creative risk-taking. She said she plans to build on Channel 4’s programming strengths while accelerating its digital transformation. She also wants to deepen audience engagement across all platforms.

Channel 4 continues to expand its streaming strategy as it competes with global platforms and shifting viewer habits. Dogra’s background in advertising, data, and revenue makes her a key player in this transition. She has worked with traditional broadcast operations and digital-first initiatives, giving her experience in both legacy and modern media models.

The network faces a fast-changing media landscape. Audiences continue to move from linear TV to streaming services. Advertisers also invest more in data-driven tools and digital platforms. Channel 4 hopes Dogra can guide the organization through these shifts while protecting its public service values.
