WASHINGTON (Diya TV) — President Donald Trump and executives from six major technology companies signed a voluntary AI safety agreement Tuesday that calls for internal safeguards, outside audits and board oversight of advanced systems.
The White House Accord on Super Intelligence, subtitled “Joint Commitment on Frontier Responsibilities,” includes Google, Meta, Nvidia, Anthropic, OpenAI and xAI. Signatories included Sundar Pichai, Mark Zuckerberg, Jensen Huang, Dario Amodei, Greg Brockman and Elon Musk.
The agreement sets out four layers of oversight. Companies pledge to establish internal safety controls, assign teams to monitor them, engage independent outside auditors and designate independent board committees to review findings and oversee corrective action.
The commitments include safeguards against models hacking or accessing technical systems in unintended ways. The pact relies on voluntary compliance rather than legally enforceable requirements.
Trump described the agreement as “morally binding” and compared it to a constitution. He also proposed a committee of about 10 people to oversee AI safety, without detailing its authority or membership.
House Speaker Mike Johnson said the accord establishes expectations for internal and external review. He said the White House and Congress would continue guiding the industry’s development.
Separately, Trump signed an executive order directing federal agencies to use “Super Intelligence” and “SI” instead of “Artificial Intelligence” and “AI” in official communications, websites, reports and other non-statutory documents, where the law permits.
The order does not require agencies to alter existing regulations, contracts, grants or historical documents. For now, it applies the existing statutory definition of artificial intelligence to the new terminology.
Trump directed his science and technology adviser to submit proposed legislative language for a federal definition of “Super Intelligence” within 60 days.
