FREMONT, Calif. (Diya TV) — There are now three Indian-Americans in the Bay Area running for Congress for the first time in 2020. Democrat Rishi Kumar declared his candidacy against fellow Democrat incumbent Anna Eshoo earlier this year. Now Indian American Republicans Ritesh Tandon and Nisha Sharma are challenging incumbent Democrats Ro Khanna and Eric Swalwell respectively in large part over remarks the challengers say were anti-Indian.

In Southern California, thousands of homes are still threatened by the Getty Fire. The ongoing Kincaid Fire in Northern California is now 30% contained. Nearly one million PG&E customers remain without power.

FCC Chairman Ajit Pai announced he’s calling for a vote next month to ban companies that post a threat to national security from using FCC funds, alluding the Chinese governments’ involvement in technology companies Huawei & ZTE.
