SAN FRANCISCO (Diya TV) — Stephen Curry has signed a two-year contract extension with the Golden State Warriors worth a reported $116 million, keeping him with the franchise that drafted him in 2009. The deal includes a player option for the 2028-29 season.
Curry was eligible for a two-year extension worth up to about $136.7 million. His agreement falls roughly $20 million below that figure. He remains under his existing contract for the 2026-27 season; the extension begins after it.
“We couldn’t be more excited about reaching an agreement with Stephen and extending his historic career with the Warriors,” general manager Mike Dunleavy said in a statement.
The agreement gives Golden State at least two more seasons with Curry under contract, while the player option leaves him a decision to make before 2028-29. If he plays that final season with the Warriors, it would be his 20th with one franchise.
Curry, 38, enters his 18th NBA season after injuries limited him to 43 games in 2025-26. He missed more than two months with a right knee problem but averaged 26.6 points, 4.7 assists and 3.6 rebounds when he played.
The Warriors finished last season 37-45 and lost in the play-in tournament, missing the playoffs. Jimmy Butler also missed significant time with a knee injury, and the team expects him to return during the coming season. Golden State is seeking another playoff berth with Curry, Butler and Kristaps Porziņģis on its roster.
Curry has won four NBA championships and two Most Valuable Player awards with Golden State. The new deal extends his tenure with the Warriors while giving the team more clarity as it builds its roster beyond this season.
