SAN FRANCISCO (Diya TV) — In yet another controversial incident sine the inauguration of President Donald Trump last month, a Houston family of South Asian descent woke up to a letter at their door that said, “we need to get rid of Muslims, Indians and Jews,” and said they should “go back” where they came from.

The family lives in Fort Bend, a suburb of Houston, a district where South Asians are the majority.

“Our new President, Donald J Trump, is God’s gift to the white nation. We need to get rid of Muslims, Indians and Jews,” the letter said. “Get out of Texas and go back to where you came from.”

The family were reportedly too scared to report the incident to police, and are unsure if they were targeted or if their home was selected at random. “It is literally spewing words of hatred for everybody who isn’t white Anglo Saxon,” Tony Wadhawan, a friend of the family, told the Deccan Herald. “That’s basically what this letter says.”

It was the second incident in a week in Fort Bend, several homes earlier in the week had swastikas painted on their fences. The Fort Bend County Sheriff is still investigating the matter.

The local regional Anti-Defamation League office has tracked an increase in the circulation of racially offensive leaflets and flyers during the first month of 2017. In January 2016, the organization received 10 such reports. This year, that figure has doubled, at least.

“Perhaps it is more people reporting what they see,” said ADL associate director Dena Marks. “Or, there is something in the current rhetorical climate that makes people want to put this language out and we really need to fight against that,” she added.
