LOS ANGELES (Diya TV) — Renowned sitarist Anoushka Shankar will present at the 67th Grammy Awards on February 2 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. This marks her return to the Grammy stage as a presenter, having previously held the role in 2016.
Shankar, daughter of the legendary Ravi Shankar, has also garnered two nominations this year: Best New Age, Ambient, or Chant Album for “Chapter II: How Dark It Is Before Dawn” and Best Global Music Performance for her collaboration with Jacob Collier on “A Rock Somewhere.” These bring her total Grammy nominations to 11.
Posting on Instagram, Shankar exclaimed, “Eeeeeeee I have news! What an honor to be asked to serve as a presenter at the 67th #GRAMMYPremiere Ceremony this Sunday!!” She goes on to detail her journey, since 2016, “So much has changed for me personally, and globally too, over these nine years but again find myself in the delightful position of standing up for India on the global stage.”
The 67th Grammy Awards will include live performances by some of the world’s prominent artists, like Chris Martin of Coldplay, Cynthia Erivo, John Legend, and the incomparable Stevie Wonder. In addition to raising funds for relief efforts in the face of wildfires, the event honors first responders.
