SAN FRANCISCO (Diya TV) — While most Americans are still digesting the dramatic result of November’s general election, and the realization that Donald Trump is now the President of the United States, Puneet Ahluwalia has been inspired, and announced his candidacy for state’s House of Delegates position for the 34th District.

The Virginia Republican will run against incumbent Kathleen Murphy, hoping to graduate from the State Central Committee, where he currently serves as the representative for the state’s 10th District.

Ahluwalia served as the finance chair of last month’s Asian American Presidential Ball. The success of Indian Americans in the U.S. means more from the community should make a more proactive effort to get involved in mainstream politics, he said. And Americans should support the president, Ahluwalia added, telling American Bazaar that Trump and Washington’s Republican leadership are focused on job creation and a stronger relationship between the U.S. and India.

“The success of our community demands us to be active and participate in mainstream politics. It is our responsibility to strengthen the diversity of our nation.

“We should be supporting President Trump and Republican leadership in creating and promoting American jobs with strong emphasis on balanced trade between U.S.-Indo Pacific Region.”

He’s pledged, if elected, to work to strengthen the state’s Republican base, amongst other things.

“We will watch our allies’ back and it is important that communities, including the Indian-American community that has benefited most from this great nation, play a pivotal role in the revival process,” Ahluwalia said. “Our nation is at a crossroad where we will take new positive direction as we embark on a journey to make our nation stronger.”
