PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island (Diya TV) Prutha Patel of Providence, R.I. has been crowned the newest Miss New England U.S. International and will compete at Miss U.S. International, to be held in Kissimmee, Fla., in June.
Patel made the announcement herself during a segment on GoLocal LIVE and said that she will be competing with 30 contestants from all over the U.S. for the crown.
A newcomer in the pageant world, having only begun two years ago in 2015, Patel is involved with various causes, including being on the board of The Providence Lady Project. Patel said shes imbibed stronger time management and public speaking skills competing in pageants, those, in turn, have helped her professionally at work in the real estate property management business. She has two upcoming fundraisers in May; one is on May 4 at XO Cafe in Providence. The money raised will help on her Road to the Crown and a portion will go to the Lupus Foundation of New England, she said. Patel said she struggled greatly when she herself was diagnosed with lupus.

Patel’s platform at the national pageant will be women, and to encourage them in all walks of life.
I want women to be comfortable in their own skin, she said. I want to be a role model for other women as well, she added.
