SAN FRANCISCO (Diya TV) – It appears Indian American Nikki Haley will take the plunge into the 2024 presidential race. The ex-U.S. ambassador to the United Nations who served under former President Donald Trump, says she’ll make a special announcement Feb. 15 in South Carolina, where she previously served as governor. Political pundits have long viewed Haley as a potential GOP presidential contender, as she crisscrossed the country the past two years through her political group Stand for America, helping fellow Republicans running in the 2022 elections.

Indian-American Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal has been named Ranking Member of the powerful House Judiciary Committee’s panel on Immigration, making her the first immigrant to serve in a leadership role for the subcommittee.  The 57 year old represents the 7th Congressional District of Washington State.

Indian-American political consultant Shasti Conrad has been elected as the new chair of the Washington State Democratic Party, becoming the youngest and first Indian-American woman to serve as a state party chair in the US. Conrad is a former leader of the King County Democrats.
