SAN FRANCISCO (Diya TV) — Emergent, the AI-powered vibe coding platform co-founded by twins Mukund and Madhav Jha, is in advanced talks to raise over $60 million in a new funding round. Investors in discussions include Khosla Ventures and SoftBank, sources told Moneycontrol. The new round is expected to be led by Khosla Ventures and would value Emergent at around $300 million. This marks a significant increase from its earlier valuation, reflecting the startup’s rapid growth as demand for AI-driven automation and no-code app development continues to surge.
Emergent has achieved impressive growth since its commercial launch just over four months ago. The company now reports an annual recurring revenue (ARR) of $25 million, up from $15 million in September. Its user base has also grown quickly, reaching over 2 million users from 1.5 million just two months ago. The platform allows users to build production-ready web and mobile apps without writing code. It manages backend infrastructure, logins, payments, deployment, and scaling. This makes it ideal for solopreneurs, small business owners, and developers who want to launch apps quickly.
This funding round would be Emergent’s third in just a few months. In September, it raised $23 million in its Series A round from Lightspeed, Prosus, and other investors. Earlier, the startup secured $7 million in its Seed round from the Together Fund, Y Combinator, and Freshworks founder Girish Mathrubootham.
On December 9, Emergent also announced a strategic investment from the Google AI Futures Fund, though details of the deal were not disclosed. Angel investors such as Jeff Dean, Devendra Chaplot, and Balaji Srinivasan are also backing the company. The round is particularly significant for SoftBank, which has largely stayed on the sidelines in India in recent years. This would mark the conglomerate’s first direct deal in the Indian startup ecosystem in about two years. Previously, SoftBank mainly participated in follow-on rounds to maintain stakes in existing companies like Meesho.
Emergent is headquartered in San Francisco but maintains offices in Bengaluru, India, where most of its team is based. CEO Mukund Jha is a Columbia Engineering graduate and a former Google engineer. He previously co-founded the hyperlocal delivery startup Dunzo. His brother, Madhav Jha, worked as an AI scientist at Amazon and a machine learning engineer at Dropbox before launching Emergent.
The Jha brothers’ vision is to democratize app development through AI-powered automation. Emergent’s platform enables anyone to create apps quickly and efficiently without writing a single line of code.
Emergent faces competition from companies like Replit and Lovable. The platform monetizes through subscription plans ranging from $20 to $200 per month, with additional fees for app deployment. Users come from over 180 countries, with 20 percent in India and the remainder across the U.S., U.K., and Europe.
Industry experts say the startup’s rapid adoption and revenue growth highlight a rising trend in AI-driven app development tools. As businesses and individuals increasingly seek to automate workflows and launch apps faster, platforms like Emergent are gaining attention from global investors.
Once completed, this $60 million round will be Emergent’s largest fundraising effort to date. The company plans to use the funds to scale operations, enhance its AI capabilities, and expand its global user base. Emergent’s rapid rise underscores the growing appeal of no-code AI platforms. By simplifying app development, the company aims to empower millions of users worldwide to turn ideas into fully functional applications quickly and efficiently.
