NEW YORK (Diya TV) — The federal case against New York City Mayor Eric Adams on corruption charges was dismissed with prejudice by a federal judge, meaning the charges cannot be refiled. The decision, which was made by U.S. District Judge Dale Ho on April 2, 2025, ends a legal battle that had significance.

The September 2024 indictment accused Adams of receiving more than $100,000 worth of illicit campaign donations and services, including those of a Turkish diplomat, for political considerations. Adams remained committed to his stance of not guilty during the entire trial.

Judge Ho disapproved of the Justice Department’s reason for filing the case, especially its accusation that the prosecution discouraged Adams’s cooperation with federal immigration efforts. He was afraid that leaving the charges pending might subject Adams to political pressure.

The case caused upheaval at the Justice Department, where some prosecutors quit in protest at the move to ask for dismissal. Even with these tensions, Judge Ho did not find any prosecutorial misconduct and stressed the need to avoid any appearance of coercion in the dismissal.

In his relief following his dismissal, Mayor Adams reaffirmed his commitment to New Yorkers. He apologized for the inconvenience the case had caused and said he was keeping his eyes on the future of the city.

With the court case behind him, Adams can now focus on his re-election campaign, which is being hotly contested.
