COVENTRY, England (Diya TV) — Jaguar Land Rover plans to cut about 4,000 jobs over the next two years as part of a cost-reduction program aimed at saving £1.7 billion ($2.30 billion).

The luxury automaker, known as JLR, said the reductions will mainly affect salaried and management employees and will be carried out through voluntary redundancies.

JLR employs about 43,000 people worldwide, including roughly 34,000 in Britain. The company has not said which locations will be affected.

The automaker said the restructuring is intended to lower its break-even point to about 300,000 vehicles and improve its ability to respond to changing market conditions.

CEO PB Balaji cited technological shifts, increased competition and geopolitical uncertainty as pressures facing the global auto industry.

JLR is also recovering from a 2025 cyberattack that disrupted production and affected parts of its supply chain.

Despite the planned workforce reductions, the company said it will continue investing in new products and technology. JLR expects to launch five new products over the next 12 months and plans to invest between £15 billion and £18 billion over the next five years.

The investment will focus on electric vehicles, digital technology, advanced manufacturing and customer experience.

British Business Minister Jonathan Reynolds spoke with Balaji on Monday and is expected to meet JLR representatives and trade unions later this week.

Mayor Richard Parker also announced a £500,000 support package for workers who choose voluntary redundancy.

JLR said the job cuts are part of a broader effort to reduce costs while maintaining investment in future vehicles and technology.
