LAS VEGAS (Diya TV) — Indian travel vlogger Paramvir Singh Beniwal, known online as Passenger Paramvir, confronted a group of livestreamers on Fremont Street after they offered him a job as a 7-Eleven clerk — a remark he identified as a racial stereotype.
The encounter happened the night of Sept. 19 as Beniwal walked with his friend Vikram in downtown Las Vegas. A group of men approached them, and the conversation started casually before turning toward a supposed job offer. One man claimed a member of the group owned 73 7-Eleven stores nationwide and offered Beniwal a clerk position paying about $12 an hour. The group kept pressing the offer, citing its benefits.
Beniwal recognized the reference to a stereotype linking Indians to convenience-store work and responded, “You guys look too poor for me to work for you guys.” He then challenged one man over his jewelry, telling him to invest his money in a “real chain.”
Beniwal later told his viewers that Vikram initially missed the meaning behind the 7-Eleven comments. Beniwal said he believed the group wanted to provoke him on camera. “They call us 7-11 as mostly Indians work as cashiers in those stores,” he said, calling the exchange a racist attack rather than a joke.
Beniwal posted the encounter Sept. 22 in a YouTube video titled “Attacked in the World’s Entertainment Capital” on his Passenger Paramvir channel. The video passed 3.2 million views by Sept. 24. In it, Beniwal also discussed other stereotypes he has encountered while traveling, including assumptions that Indians work as Uber drivers or store cashiers.
The men involved have not been independently identified. Social media users named one participant as streamer ForeignxPrime, though Beniwal did not name him in the video.
Beniwal documents his travels on his channel and states on his website that he aims to visit all 197 countries.
