WASHINGTON (Diya TV) — The U.S.-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) has appointed Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman of the Aditya Birla Group, to its Board of Directors and Executive Committee. This move strengthens USISPF’s mission to deepen strategic and economic ties between the United States and India. Birla, one of India’s most respected business leaders, brings decades of global experience and leadership to the Forum. He joins a growing list of international leaders shaping the future of U.S.-India collaboration.

The Aditya Birla Group is the largest Indian greenfield investor in the United States. The company has invested over $15 billion across 15 states. Its operations in the U.S. span key sectors, including metals, chemicals, and carbon black. One of the Group’s most significant U.S. projects is a $4.1 billion investment in Bay Minette, Alabama. This project will create the first fully integrated aluminum rolling and recycling plant in the U.S. in 40 years. It also marks the largest industrial investment in Alabama’s history. The facility will be operated by Novelis, the Group’s U.S. subsidiary and the world’s largest aluminum recycler.

“It is an honor to join the USISPF Executive Committee,” said Birla. “USISPF has played a vital role in fostering dialogue, collaboration, and trust between the U.S. and India. We are proud to be the largest Indian investor in the United States and are committed to expanding further.”

He added that he sees the U.S.-India partnership as one of the most important in the world. “When our two nations come together with purpose and clarity, they can shape the arc of global commerce and innovation,” he said. Birla received the 2025 Global Leadership Award at the USISPF Leadership Summit in Washington, D.C. The award honors his contributions to strengthening economic ties between the two nations.

John Chambers, Chairman of USISPF and CEO of JC2 Ventures, praised Birla’s appointment. “Mr. Birla is a leader of the Indian business community. His presence on our Executive Committee will guide USISPF to new heights,” said Chambers. Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen, Vice Chair of the USISPF Executive Committee, also welcomed the news. “His visionary leadership aligns perfectly with USISPF’s mission to promote mutual prosperity through innovation and investment.”

Raj Subramaniam, President and CEO of FedEx and also a Vice Chair of the Executive Committee, echoed this view. “Mr. Birla’s global vision and entrepreneurial drive will expand opportunities for businesses and communities in both countries.” Dr. Mukesh Aghi, President and CEO of USISPF, highlighted Birla’s commitment to inclusive growth. “He believes in the Gandhian principle of trusteeship and giving back to society,” said Aghi. “The Aditya Birla Group’s community welfare programs touch millions of lives each year.”

Under Birla’s leadership of nearly 30 years, the Aditya Birla Group has grown into a $66 billion global conglomerate. The company operates in over 40 countries and holds top positions in sectors like cement, metals, fashion, financial services, and chemicals. The Group has a workforce of 180,000 people worldwide and a market capitalization exceeding $100 billion. Birla has led more than 60 acquisitions globally, making him one of the most active Indian business leaders in international expansion.
