SAN FRANCISCO (Diya TV) – India’s planned coal-fired mega power plant in the western state of Gujarat has been scrapped because the government would prefer to focus on options that include renewable energy.
The 4,000-Megawatt ultra-mega power project would have been Gujarat’s second such built.
However, India’s government has decided the state is already being sufficiently supplied with energy from the plant in existence and has instead opted to begin researching more renewable energy options at its disposal. At the helm will be more research into the country’s solar options, India’s energy minister said in a recent interview.
“Gujarat had proposed the UMPP last year but we now feel we do not need more,” energy minister Chimanbhai Sapariya told Business Standard. “We already have more than sufficient generation capacity.
“Our focus is now on renewable energy. The government will encourage solar power.”
Gujarat relies on a mixture of traditional and renewable energy sources, and much of the state’s plans for renewable energy are focused around the implementation of more solar power. The local government has current plans to begin the installation of solar panels on the roofs of homes in the state. There are many benefits when it comes to using renewable energy sources, like the impact this could have on the environment, and the fact that this can help reduce energy bills. Speaking of energy bills, it may be worth checking out some Pulse Power reviews, for example, to help make a better decision when it comes to finding affordable energy rates. As well as this, there are plenty of other ways that we can all make a difference to help the environment.
There has been a growing amount of homes and businesses that are showing interest in getting solar panels installed on their buildings, from the Sandbar Solar & Electric in Santa Cruz, USA, to across India and around the world. This could be because they are concerned about their carbon footprint and would like to find ways of reducing it to help the environment. Businesses could also be looking for ways to reduce their bills to help keep their business making profits. Energy bills are reduced if solar panels are implemented so businesses are using them, alongside Usave, as a way to reduce their spending.
India aims to become a solar power leader and run off one terawatt (one million million watts) of the renewable by 2030, according to a report from the Energy Post.
