GREENVILLE, S.C. (Diya TV) — Actress Hayden Panettiere died from an accidental overdose involving fentanyl and other drugs, the Greenville County Coroner’s Office concluded, updating its initial findings after her Aug. 16 death.

Panettiere, thirty-six, was found unresponsive at a Greenville residence where she was temporarily staying. Emergency responders received a call reporting cardiac arrest and attempted lifesaving measures. Officials pronounced her dead that afternoon.

The coroner’s office announced the cause of death Sept. 22, citing the combined toxic effects of fentanyl, 4-ANPP, alprazolam, methocarbamol and quetiapine. An autopsy found no trauma that contributed to her death.

Panettiere began acting as a child and became widely known as Claire Bennet in NBC’s “Heroes.” She later played country singer Juliette Barnes in “Nashville,” earning two Golden Globe nominations.

Her film credits included “Remember the Titans,” “Ice Princess” and “Scream 4.” She reprised her role as Kirby Reed in “Scream VI” in 2023.

In May, she published “This Is Me: A Reckoning,” discussing addiction, recovery, postpartum depression and her experiences growing up in Hollywood.

Panettiere is survived by her daughter, Kaya, whom she welcomed with former fiancé and Ukrainian boxing champion Wladimir Klitschko.

On Oct. 8, a Los Angeles County judge appointed Klitschko temporary guardian of Kaya’s estate, allowing him to protect assets she stands to inherit from her mother. The appointment remains in place pending the selection of a long-term administrator.

The original account that described Panettiere’s cause of death as undetermined reflected the preliminary investigation. The coroner has since ruled the death accidental.
