NEW YORK (Diya TV) — A Manhattan judge sentenced former Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein to 15 years in prison Wednesday for sexually assaulting former television production assistant Miriam Haley in 2006.
A jury convicted Weinstein in June 2025 of committing a first-degree criminal sexual act. Prosecutors sought a 20-year sentence, while his attorneys requested a shorter term because of his age and health problems.
Haley told the court that the assault caused lasting trauma and damaged her sense of security. She said participating in multiple trials added to that harm but that she continued seeking accountability.
Weinstein, 74, apologized for Haley’s pain but maintained his innocence. “I do have remorse for Miriam Haley’s pain, but I have to reiterate my innocence,” he told Judge Curtis Farber while seated in a wheelchair.
Weinstein was convicted in 2020 of assaulting Haley and raping actor and hairstylist Jessica Mann. New York’s highest court overturned the convictions and his 23-year sentence in 2024, ruling that the trial judge improperly allowed testimony about allegations that were not part of the charges.
At his 2025 retrial, jurors convicted Weinstein in Haley’s case, acquitted him of assaulting former model Kaja Sokola and deadlocked on the rape charge involving Mann. A second trial on Mann’s allegation also ended with a hung jury in May 2026.
Prosecutors dropped the remaining rape charge in June after Mann said she could not endure another trial.
Weinstein also faces resentencing in California. An appeals court upheld his 2022 rape and sexual assault convictions but overturned his 16-year sentence because the trial judge had considered his since-vacated New York convictions.
Weinstein continues to deny engaging in nonconsensual sexual activity and can appeal his latest New York conviction and sentence.
