MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (Diya TV) – Google this week announced the acquisition of Synergyse, a startup founded by Indian-American Varun Malhotra, as part of the company’s efforts to scale training offerings for Google Apps to its customers and customers’ users.

The financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed by either party.

Malholtra founded the Toronto-based startup, which was launched in 2013, with the same mission of teaching users how to use Google Apps. Operations senior director of Google Apps Peter Scocimara said in a blog post this week that the company and the thousands of its app customers have been “excited” about Synergyse.

The Google Apps suite, which includes such products as Gmail, Calendar, Docs and Drive, was first developed to provide cloud-based productivity and communication for its customers. Today, the apps service more than two million paying customers around the world, and are still continuing to look for ways to improve their app user acquisition strategy so they can get even more people on board with their vision, Scocimara said in the post.

“As more businesses sign up, we wanted an elegant way to scale our training offerings to our customers and our customers’ users,” he said.

Synergyse includes a virtual coach inside of the apps interface, with interactive voice and text features that assist users in learning functionality and how to properly utilize the apps. The product will help users get up to speed quickly, including when new features are rolled out. Synergyse will be joining Google, and the company plans to officially roll out the product to the public later this year.

“By providing the right help at the right time, Synergyse will help our customers with the critical task of change management in the enterprise, and bolster the training and support programs we already offer today,” he said.
