BRAMPTON, Canada (Diya TV) — A months-long investigation by Peel Regional Police culminated in the arrest of five people and the seizure of firearms, illicit drugs, and cash from a Brampton residence on June 1, 2025, police said Tuesday.

Officers from the 21 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau executed a search warrant at the home, uncovering two semi-automatic handguns, roughly $30,000 in Canadian currency, and a large quantity of suspected fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamines, and heroin. Police also seized prohibited devices and cannabis products allegedly intended for illegal distribution.

In a statement, Peel Regional Police confirmed that five individuals now face a long list of charges, including multiple firearms and drug-related offences. The investigation, which authorities described as “lengthy,” targeted alleged illegal drug trafficking activity within the region.

Alex Permaul, a 23-year-old man from North York, was charged with:

  • Two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Two counts of knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Two counts of possession of a loaded restricted firearm
  • Six counts of possession of a prohibited device
  • Three counts of possession for trafficking

Additionally, four Brampton residents were arrested and face nearly identical charges. They include:

  • Harvir Bains, 24
  • Karan Aujla, 27
  • Nomana Daud, 27
  • Jasmeet Harsh, 24

Each of these individuals is charged with:

  • Two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Two counts of knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Two counts of possession of a loaded restricted firearm
  • Six counts of possession of a prohibited device
  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession for the purpose of distributing cannabis
  • Possession for the purpose of selling cannabis
  • Possession of a controlled substance

All five accused were held for bail hearings and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton, according to police.

Peel police emphasized that the operation reflects their ongoing commitment to targeting illegal guns and drug trafficking in the Greater Toronto Area.

“This seizure is a significant step toward disrupting the flow of illegal drugs and firearms in our community,” police said in a release. “We will continue to pursue those who endanger public safety.”

Authorities did not disclose whether the residence targeted was under surveillance prior to the raid or if further arrests are expected in connection to the investigation.
