NEW DELHI (Diya TV) — Errol Musk, the outspoken South African engineer and father of tech billionaire Elon Musk, arrived in India on June 1 for his first-ever visit to the country. At 78, Musk is embarking on a week-long tour centered around India’s expanding green energy sector, marking a significant move as the nation intensifies its push toward sustainable development and its ambitious goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2070.
Errol Musk, who has been appointed to the Global Advisory Board of Servotech Power Systems, a rapidly growing Indian company specializing in electric vehicle (EV) charging technology and solar infrastructure, will engage in multiple high-profile activities during his visit.
His itinerary includes touring manufacturing plants in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, meeting with senior government officials from the Ministries of Power, Renewable Energy, and Heavy Industries, and participating in policy roundtables with leading clean tech innovators. These activities highlight both the strategic importance of his visit and India’s openness to partnering with global experts to accelerate its green energy ambitions.
While Errol Musk’s visit is independent of Elon Musk’s ventures, it carries additional weight due to their familial connection. Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has been in ongoing negotiations with Indian authorities regarding the entry of Tesla into the Indian market and Starlink’s satellite internet services.
Starlink awaits final regulatory approval for rural internet deployment, and Tesla continues to pursue local manufacturing amid complex tax and policy discussions. A previously scheduled visit by Elon Musk to India in April was postponed, with no new date announced.
In an interview with NDTV, Errol Musk commented on his son’s relentless work ethic, joking, “Get some rest.” He described Elon at 53 as possessing the energy of someone in their early 30s. He also expressed surprise that Elon had yet to visit India, stating, “If he doesn’t, he’s making a big mistake.”
Errol Musk’s career spans decades in electromechanical engineering, property development, and infrastructure, with significant experience in South Africa’s energy sector. He served on Pretoria’s City Council as a member of the Progressive Federal Party in the early 1970s and has worked in mining, automotive retail, and large infrastructure projects. His technical expertise and entrepreneurial background are now being leveraged to support India’s growing renewable energy landscape through Servotech.
Despite his professional achievements, Errol Musk remains a controversial figure. His personal life has drawn significant media attention, particularly his relationship with his stepdaughter, Jana Bezuidenhout, which resulted in two children and widespread criticism. The strained relationship between Errol and Elon Musk, who has publicly labeled his father as toxic, adds a complex dimension to the elder Musk’s profile.
During his stay, Errol Musk is also expected to engage in cultural diplomacy, including a visit to the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, reflecting a blend of business interests and cultural outreach. Servotech Power Systems announced plans for Musk to help promote its brand digitally, expanding its visibility in India’s competitive clean tech market.
While Errol Musk’s net worth remains undisclosed, his son Elon Musk’s fortune, according to Forbes, stands at approximately $422 billion, making him the richest person globally. Errol’s involvement in India’s green energy sector signals a bridging of experience and innovation at a time when India is aggressively scaling up its sustainable energy infrastructure.
