PIKEVILLE, Ky. (Diya TV) — Dr. Seema Sachdeva was named the John A. Strosnider, D.O., Memorial Lecturer 2025 on Sept. 19. The honor recognizes her decades of work as a physician, educator, and advocate for children across Eastern Kentucky.
The announcement came during the Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine (KYCOM) Founders Dinner. KYCOM highlighted Sachdeva’s commitment to providing expert care while shaping the next generation of doctors.
Sachdeva is a board-certified pediatrician with specialized training in pediatric emergency medicine. She has nearly 30 years of experience caring for children. She graduated from Lady Hardinge Medical College in India in 1988. Since then, she has built a career devoted to improving children’s health in Kentucky.
Her work focuses on delivering compassionate, high-quality care. She currently practices at the Mountain Comprehensive Care Center (MCCC) in Kentucky. MCCC praised her dedication, saying, “We are grateful to KYCOM for honoring Dr. Seema Sachdeva and shining a light on the extraordinary difference she continues to make in the lives of children, families, and communities across Central Appalachia.”
In addition to her clinical work, Sachdeva plays a major role in medical education. She is the founding vice-chair of KYCOM’s Division of Pediatrics at the University of Pikeville. She also serves as a clinical professor of pediatrics. In these roles, she mentors medical students and young physicians, helping them develop the skills and compassion needed to care for children.
Her influence extends beyond the classroom. Students and colleagues admire her ability to balance teaching with hands-on care. Her dedication ensures that Eastern Kentucky continues to have skilled, caring pediatricians.
Dr. Seema Sachdeva is part of a family committed to pediatric care. In 2023, her husband, Dr. Rakesh Sachdeva, received the same KYCOM honor. Together, they have contributed to improving healthcare for children in the region. Their work highlights the importance of family-centered care and long-term commitment to the community.
Eastern Kentucky communities have benefited from Sachdeva’s expertise and advocacy. Her work extends to children from all backgrounds, focusing on health, safety, and education. She has become a trusted figure in local healthcare, known for her empathy and professionalism.
