NEW DELHI (Diya TV) — India lockdown measures not only pertained to its 1.3 billion people, but to domestic flight travel as well. But the India government gave the go-ahead for flights to resume this week, though with strict social distancing guidelines and with only one-third of operations allowed to restart.
Two prominent Indian Americans are receiving Ellis Island Medals of Honor. Venture capitalist Ram Shriram, a famous early investor in Google, and Chandrika Tandon, a businesswoman and Grammy-nominated artist are among the 93 honorees.
Presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden hired Rachana Desai Martin as national director for voter protection. Desai Martin will also serve as senior counsel. She was mostly recently chief operating officer of the Democratic National Committee.
India’s Union Health Minister, Dr. Harsh Vardhan, is now Chairman of the World Health Organization Executive Board to serve a three year term.
And the legendary Dr. Amarjit Singh Marwah, Los Angeles’ first Indian American professional and Dalip Singh Saund’s campaign manager, received an Excellence in Philanthropy award from the California State Legislature.
