MINNESOTA (Diya TV) — A Minnesota restauranteur sparked controversy in the community Monday after posting a sign outside of the facility asking Muslims to leave the U.S.
Dan Ruedinger, the owner of the restaurant was upset over the incidents happened in St. Cloud where a 22-year-old youth rampaged through a shopping mall and stabbed 10 people on Saturday evening, according to a CBS report.
The sign board outside Treats Family Restaurant in Lonsdale, Minnesota reads: “Muslims Get Out.”
“It’s time that people started standing up, not worrying about the PC crowd and do what is right,” Ruedinger said. “And I feel what we’re doing is right. We are not targeting the Muslims in general, just the extremists. And that’s all I can say. It’s my right and I’m going to stand up, and I wish more people would do it,” he added.
According to Ruedinger, some Muslims are good people and want a better life. They must hold others accountable for their acts. He said that he was referring to extremists, but couldn’t specify it because he didn’t have the letters to spell the word.
However, some people who disagree with the statement staged a peaceful protest in front of the restaurant on Monday evening.
“I get it, it’s his right to say what he wants to say. But that’s giving Lonsdale a bad rap to everyone that drives by on 19, which is a very busy road, so people are going to see that and they’re going to think Lonsdale as a whole, as a community, is as crass as that sign,” Payten Estepp, one of the protestors said.
Ruedinger, however, has decided to continue with the provocative statement.
