WASHINGTON D.C. (Diya TV) – A United States Congressional Committee on the Chinese Communist Party recommended the inclusion of India in NATO Plus. The suggestion to add the world’s largest democracy as a member country comes a month before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to the US. The committee is headed by chairman Mike Gallagher along with ranking member Raja Krishnamoorthi.
Modi also inaugurated a new $125 million Parliament building in the capital of New Delhi, with blessings offered by a multitude of faith groups. He delivered an almost 40 minute speech, hailing India’s parliamentary democracy, saying the country had left behind its colonial past, referring to the old Parliament building that was built by the British when they ruled India. In a rare sign of unity, the country’s major opposition parties boycotted the event.
President Joe Biden implored the nation to never forget the price that was paid to protect democracy as he honored fallen soldiers during Memorial Day remarks.
