SYRACUSE (Diya TV) — CBS and Syracuse University’s Newhouse School established the Nina Kapur Broadcast and Digital Journalism Scholarship in honor of the former WCBS reporter and Syracuse alum who died in a moped accident last year. The Indian American journalist was 26 years old.

President Joe Biden appointed Vinai Thummalapally to serve as the Deputy Director and Chief Operating Officer of the U.S. Trade and Development Agency. Thummalapally assumes the role of USTDA’s Acting Director until a director is confirmed by the Senate. Prior to this appointment, the Indian American served as U.S. Ambassador to Belize. 

International Monetary Fund chief economist Gita Gopinath will return to Harvard University in January as planned when her public service leave of absence from the university ends. Gopinath is the IMF’s first female chief economist, and led new IMF analytical research on the Covid-19 pandemic and vaccination targets.
