MUMBAI (Diya TV) — Arjun Tendulkar, son of cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, is engaged to Saaniya Chandok in a private ceremony that drew close family and friends, according to media reports released on August 13.

The ceremony marked a personal milestone for the 25-year-old Mumbai Indians cricketer, who is steadily making his mark in Indian cricket. Chandok is the granddaughter of Ravi Ghai, a well-known Mumbai entrepreneur with major interests in the hospitality and food industries. Ghai owns the InterContinental hotel and Brooklyn Creamery, a popular ice cream brand.

Chandok herself is a certified veterinary technician and the founder of Mr. Paws, a pet skincare company. Despite her prominent family background, she has maintained a low profile and built her career in the pet care industry.

Neither the Tendulkar family nor the Ghai family has released an official statement about the engagement. The event remained strictly private, reflecting both families’ preference for intimacy over publicity.

Arjun Tendulkar continues to carry forward the cricketing legacy of his father, Sachin Tendulkar. A left-arm fast-bowling all-rounder, Arjun plays domestic cricket for Goa. His record includes 37 wickets and 532 runs in 17 First-Class matches. On his debut in the Ranji Trophy against Rajasthan in 2022, he scored a century. That feat mirrored Sachin’s debut in 1988, when he also struck a century for Mumbai.

In addition to First-Class cricket, Arjun has built his presence in List A and T20 formats. He has taken 25 wickets in 18 List A matches and 27 wickets in 24 T20 games. His batting contributions include more than 200 runs across both formats.

Arjun entered the Indian Premier League in 2021, when the Mumbai Indians bought him for INR 20 lakh. He debuted in 2023 against the Kolkata Knight Riders and claimed his first wicket against Sunrisers Hyderabad, dismissing veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar. He went on to play five matches across the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Ahead of the 2025 season, Mumbai released him but later brought him back at the mega auction for INR 30 lakh, reflecting the team’s long-term faith in his potential.

The Tendulkar family has long been one of India’s most admired households. Sachin Tendulkar, often called the “God of Cricket,” set unmatched records in international cricket. Off the field, his personal life has also drawn public interest. Sachin married Anjali Mehta in 1995 at the age of 22, after a courtship that began when he was just 19.

Arjun, like his father, has chosen to take a big step in life at a relatively young age. His engagement to Chandok has sparked conversations among fans and on social media, where news of the private celebration quickly spread.

Saaniya Chandok belongs to one of Mumbai’s most established business families. Her grandfather, Ravi Ghai, is a key figure in the city’s hospitality sector. The family’s ownership of the InterContinental hotel and Brooklyn Creamery places them among the most recognized names in Mumbai’s luxury and food industries.

Despite this, Chandok has carved out her professional path. Through Mr. Paws, she has developed a brand dedicated to pet skincare, reflecting her passion for animals and veterinary sciences.
