PHUKET, Thailand (Diya TV) — Just one day after the deadly crash of Air India Flight AI-171 in Ahmedabad, another Air India flight faced a mid-air security crisis. Flight AI-379, traveling from Phuket to New Delhi with 156 passengers, made an emergency landing Friday morning after the crew reported a bomb threat.

The aircraft departed Phuket International Airport at 9:30 AM local time. Shortly after takeoff, the crew found a threatening message scrawled on the lavatory wall. In response, the pilots circled the Andaman Sea for several minutes before returning to Phuket for an emergency landing.

Thai aviation authorities quickly activated their Airport Contingency Plan. Upon landing, officials evacuated all passengers. Bomb squads then searched the aircraft. They found no explosives.

“An Air India flight from Phuket, Thailand, to India’s capital New Delhi received a bomb threat on Friday, prompting an emergency landing,” Air India stated.

“As part of emergency protocols, passengers of flight AI-379 are being deboarded from the aircraft. A total of 156 passengers were on board, and the bomb threat was discovered inside the aircraft’s toilet,” the airline added.

This scare followed just 24 hours after the tragic crash of Air India Flight AI-171. That flight, a Boeing 787-8 from Ahmedabad to London, crashed into the BJ Medical College complex shortly after takeoff. It killed at least 241 people. Only one person survived.

The back-to-back incidents have raised serious concerns. While investigators have not confirmed a connection between the crash and the bomb threat, the timing has focused global scrutiny on Air India’s safety protocols.

As India grieves the victims of the Ahmedabad disaster, the emergency in Phuket has amplified public fears. These consecutive events have reignited conversations about aviation preparedness and crisis response.

This is a developing story.
