WASHINGTON (Diya TV) — More than 100,000 Indian women living in America are waiting and wondering if they’ll be forced to leave the workplace. President Trump is still trying to rescind work authorization for H-4 visa holders, who are the dependent spouses of H-1B workers. That’s why sixty members of Congress are now asking President-Elect Joe Biden to protect their right to have a job in the States.  Indian American Congress members Ami Bera, Ro Khanna, Pramila Jayapal and Raja Krishnamoorthi are among the group asking Biden to address this. They framed the issue as one of gender equality, saying the spouses are just as skilled as their husbands.

The hotel and travel industry is limping into the New Year, with bookings and occupancy rates cratering due to the Coronavirus pandemic. An industry group says nearly a million hotel rooms remain unfilled heading into Christmas. The average occupancy rate has fallen to 38% this month compared to more than 60% this time last year. And it’s hitting Indian Americans particularly hard since so many own hotels in this space. Vinay Patel owns nine hotels in North Carolina and doesn’t see his industry returning to pre-Covid levels for at least a year or so.
