SANTA CLARA, Calif. (Diya TV) — The San Francisco 49ers improved to 2-0 with a 35-13 win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, powered by an efficient performance from quarterback Brock Purdy and a milestone day for running back Christian McCaffrey.
Playing their first regular-season game at Levi’s Stadium this season, the 49ers scored touchdowns on their first five possessions and built a 35-6 lead before Miami reached the end zone late in the fourth quarter.
San Francisco followed its 27-7 season-opening victory over the Los Angeles Rams in Australia with another 20-point win. The 49ers opened a season with consecutive victories by at least 20 points for the first time in franchise history.
Purdy completed 20 of 22 passes for 287 yards and two touchdowns without an interception. He also rushed for 30 yards and scored on a 2-yard run in the second quarter.
McCaffrey opened the scoring with a 1-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Purdy extended the lead to 14-3 with his rushing touchdown before Miami added a field goal just before halftime.
San Francisco broke the game open in the third quarter.
Purdy connected with George Kittle for a 12-yard touchdown on the 49ers’ opening possession of the half. He later found Kyle Juszczyk for a 6-yard score before McCaffrey added his second 1-yard touchdown run.
McCaffrey’s second score gave him 100 career touchdowns in his 114th NFL game. Only LaDainian Tomlinson, Emmitt Smith and Shaun Alexander reached the milestone faster during the Super Bowl era.
Kittle led San Francisco with 80 receiving yards on four catches, including his touchdown reception.
Miami struggled to turn early drives into points. Riley Patterson missed a 51-yard field-goal attempt on the Dolphins’ opening possession before making kicks from 28 and 24 yards in the first half.
The 49ers defense also pressured Miami quarterback Malik Willis, recording four sacks. Willis completed 14 of 23 passes for 197 yards and one touchdown.
Miami scored its only touchdown with 2:41 remaining when Willis connected with Ryan Miller for a 77-yard pass.
The loss dropped the Dolphins to 0-2. San Francisco will remain home to face the Arizona Cardinals on Sept. 27.
