SAN FRANCISCO (Diya TV) — 22 years old and still at the forefront of bringing unique stories to the masses, San Francisco’s 3rd i South Asian Film Festival returned to the Roxie Theater, showcasing a diverse range of films and filmmakers.
“We’re thrilled that this is 3rd i’s 22nd anniversary. 3rd i aims to celebrate our community’s diversity through cinema and also to bridge differences. So we really like discussions and invite a lot of the filmmakers to have that healthy debate,” said 3rd i Festival Director Ivan Jaigirdar.
This year’s festival presented a rich tapestry of narratives, including “Now and Forever,” a South Indian romance and sci-fi film directed by Usha Davy, and “Dear Jassi,” a Romeo and Juliet-inspired drama based on a true story from Punjab, featuring actress Pavia Sidhu.
In addition to film screenings, the festival featured discussions, such as a session led by film analyst Robin Sukhadia on the themes of resistance and nationalism in Bollywood blockbusters “Lagaan” and “RRR.”
