SAN FRANCISCO (Diya TV) – Two people were shot at a Sikh temple in Sacramento County on Sunday afternoon following a fight among three people. The Gurdwara Sacramento Sikh Society was hosting festivities where thousands of people attended a parade. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office says the shooting is not related to a hate crime. The sheriff’s office said all three males involved were of East Indian descent.
Members of the Indian diaspora gathered outside the Indian consulate in San Francisco to show solidarity after the consulate was vandalized by a group of pro-Khalistani protesters. More than 100 locals, including Muslims, Sikhs, and Hindus, gathered outside the consulate to show their support. In recent months there has been a rise in anti-India incidents in Canada, Australia and the UK by Khalistan supporters who have vandalized Hindu temples in these countries.
The Scottish National Party elected Humza Yousaf as its new leader. The 37-year-old Yousaf, who is currently Scotland’s health minister, will be Scotland’s first Muslim of Pakistani descent and first person of color to serve as First Minister.
