LOS ANGELES (Diya TV) — Priyanka Chopra — who is preparing to make her silver screen debut — this year became the first Indian to be featured on the Forbes list of highest paid television actresses in the world.
According to Forbes, Chopra earned $11 million over the past year for her TV acting services, good enough for the No. 8 spot amongst the highest-paid television actresses. She will make her Hollywood debut soon with the female lead role in the Dwayne Johnson-starrer Baywatch.
“New to the list is Priyanka Chopra, who stars on ABC’s Quantico. While Chopra may be relatively new to an American audience, she is one of the most famous faces in India. In the past year, she has starred in two Bollywood mega films (Bajirao Mastani and Jai Gangaajal) and will take her big-screen talent stateside later this year with one of the lead roles in Baywatch alongside Hollywood heavy-hitters including Dwayne Johnson, the world’s highest-paid actor,” Forbes said about Chopra.
“But like most television actresses (and actresses, in general), her millions are not made from screen time alone. Chopra is one of India’s top picks for advertisers, recently winning a seven-figure deal with sparkling juice brand Appy Fizz,” Forbes added.
Additionally, she was selected as one of the 100 most influential people by Time magazine. She had won a People’s Choice award and was selected to present an award at Academy Award ceremony. The Bollywood superstar who launched various careers for herself as a Film & TV actor as well as singer songwriter and spokesperson/model for fashion brands such as Guess Inc., has gained in popularity since first season of Quantico. The second season returns on ABC on September 25th.
Mindy Kaling, writer & comedienne who made a spash as a writer/performer in NBC’s The Office now stars in her self-named program, The Mindy Project, and has also been featured on the Forbes list. With earnings of $15 million, she’s the third highest-paid female television actress in the world. The Mindy Project which debuted on FOX has now moved exclusively to Hulu.
