Canadian Khalistan leader Hardeep Nijjar killed outside Gurdwara

SAN FRANCISCO (Diya TV) – The president of Guru Nanak Gurdwara in Surrey, British Columbia, Hardeep Singh Nijjar, was shot and killed right outside of it. His lawyer claims Nijjar was warned by Canada’s spy agency about threats on his life. Nijjar was a leading figure in Khalistan campaigns and was part of the group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), which is banned in India.
New York City and Washington DC were among 20 cities where Indian Americans held unity marches to welcome Indian Prime Minister Modi ahead of his visit to the US. Modi will visit New York and Washington starting June 21st and his trip includes a state dinner, a Joint Session of Congress address, and a gathering of business and diaspora leaders.
The Broadway adaptation of “Life of Pi,” won three Tony Awards for Best Scenic Design, Best Sound Design, and Best Lighting Design, the best showing ever for a play with a South Asian lead. The play stars Hiran Abeysekera, who plays Pi and is of Sri Lankan descent.
