California Assembly declares 1984 riots as anti-Sikh ‘genocide’

SAN FRANCISCO (Diya TV) – The California Assembly passed a resolution authored by Indian American Assemblymember Jasmeet Bains, declaring the 1984 riots after Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was assassinated by her Sikh bodyguards as an anti-Sikh ‘genocide.’ While the resolution passed unanimously in this majority Democrat-led body, a notable number of politicians abstained from voting either way.
Elizabeth Holmes, convicted founder and CEO of the collapsed blood-testing startup, Theranos, has been denied a request to remain out of prison while she appeals her conviction on charges of defrauding the biotech company’s investors. Holmes co-defendant, former boyfriend, and former Theranos COO Ramesh “Sunny” Balwani, was denied a similar request to remain free after he was convicted on similar charges.
President Joe Biden signed legislation to end the national emergency for Covid-19 before it was set to expire in several weeks. The national emergency allowed the government to take sweeping steps to respond to the virus and support the country’s economic, health and welfare systems.
