SAN FRANCISCO (Diya TV) – Indian American California attorney Harmeet Dhillon lost her bid to head the Republican National Committee during a secret ballot vote, capping off a contentious election spurred by calls within the party for new leadership. Rhona McDaniel fended off Dhillon and MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell. McDaniel received 111 votes, while Dhillon received 51 and Lindell received four.

In San Diego, California, Indian American Dr. Darshana Patel announced her campaign for State Assembly District 76. Patel is a scientist and says she intends to run as a Democrat. The election will be an open seat contest as incumbent Assemblyman Brian Maienschein is term limited. Patel already has dozens of endorsements including one from California Congressman Ro Khanna.

Former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says in his new memoir, India and Pakistan came close to a nuclear war in 2019 and Washington’s intervention prevented an escalation. This happened after New Delhi launched air raids after blaming an armed group for a suicide bombing that killed dozens of Indian soldiers in the Kashmir region.
