Former Theranos COO, Sunny Balwani gets 13-year prison sentence
SAN JOSE (Diya TV) — Pakistani American Ramesh “Sunny” Balwani, the former chief operating officer of failed blood testing startup Theranos, was sentenced to nearly 13 years in prison for fraud. It marks an end to the stunning downfall of a high-flying Silicon Valley company that resulted in the rare convictions of two tech executives. Earlier, CEO Elizabeth Holmes was sentenced to 11 years for her role.
Indian American Alamdar Hamdani was nominated by President Joe Biden to serve as a United States Attorney in Texas. If confirmed, Hamdani would be the first Asian American to serve as a U.S. attorney in the state. Since 2014, Hamdani served as an Assistant US Attorney in the Southern District of Texas, where he focused on international and domestic terrorism matters.
