In party line vote, house officially impeaches President Trump

WASHINGTON (Diya TV)  — After a lengthy debate in the House, along party lines, the House of Representatives voted to impeach President Trump. Trump becomes the third President in American history to be impeached. Democrats decried the President not only abused the power of his office by promising aid in exchange for a public declaration of an investigation into Joe Biden by Ukraine’s President, but he impeded their investigation into the matter as well. Republicans countered the impeachment effort was being done to change the outcome of the 2016 election and that the President is not being afforded due process. The Senate will take up the matter next, where Republicans have a majority. We’ll have thoughts from Democratic Chicago-area Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi who said Democrats were left with “no choice” but to pursue impeachment.
