Vishal Amin and Neomi Rao nominated to prominent posts by President Trump

President Donald Trump nominated Vishal Amin and Neomi Rao to key positions of his administration Friday.

WASHINGTON (Diya TV) — President Trump on Friday nominated two Indian Americans, both veterans of former President George W. Bush’s administration, to serve in key positions of his own.

Neomi Rao, a professor at George Mason University, has been nominated to the post of Administrator of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs within the Office of Management and Budget. Vishal Amin, who currently serves as senior counsel to the House Judiciary Committee, has been nominated to the post of Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator in the Executive Office of the President.

The White House announced both nominations in a Friday press release.

Rao, who currently serves as a professor at the Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason University, is also the founder and director of Center for the Study of the Administrative State, an organization created with the ultimate goal of rethinking the constitutional and legal foundations of the administrative state. If confirmed by the Senate, she will be charged with overseeing the implementation of government-wide policies and reviewing draft regulations.

She previously worked in all three branches of the U.S. government, serving as associate counsel to President George W. Bush; counsel for nominations and constitutional law to the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary; and law clerk to Justice Clarence Thomas of the U.S. Supreme Court.

Similarly, Amin also worked in President Bush’s administration, in two different capacities. He first served as associate director for Domestic Policy at the White House, and at the U.S. Department of Commerce, as Special Assistant and Associate Director for Policy in the Office of the Secretary.
