SAN FRANCISCO (Diya TV) — While the rest of the globe was asleep, the American people elected billionaire real estate mogul Donald Trump as the country’s 45th president, and though there have been various celebrations of the victory across the country, Muslim women are expressing fear that they may be targeted by hate crime.

In December 2015, Trump called for a complete ban on Muslims entering the U.S., referencing claims some American Muslims support violence against the United States.

A multitude of Muslims worldwide have taken to social media to warn other women not to wear the hijab, citing the 41 percent rise in race and religious hate crimes following the Brexit referendum on European Union membership. Some have shared the warnings they’ve received from family members, one woman said her mother sent her a text message pleading with her to leave her hijab at home Wednesday.

Others provided solace to Muslims who already have anxiety from wearing their hijab in public.

Some even have asked good samaritans to not simply just stand by if they see a Muslim being victimized by others.

There has been an outpouring of support on social media all morning for Muslims living in the U.S. and worldwide.
